How to Prep Your Skin for Winter

*All products mentioned were purchased by me and all opinions are my own.*

Winter is Coming. Lord Ned Stark was right on the money with that one (sorry bad Game of Thrones reference, bear with me I am in GoT withdrawal!). In all seriousness, here in the Philadelphia area our temperatures have been dropping, and then coming back up, and going back down again. Our weather is notorious for such behavior and it can really wreak havoc on your skin.

I never used to be into body lotions and scented body washes but I want to take good care of my skin and keep it healthy. I started to do some research on more heavy-duty body care to prepare for the winter months ahead. Typically, I don’t have dry skin and I am actually a tad more on the oily side but I noticed that I am drier than I have been in past winters.

I have heard many great things about Kiehl’s Crème de Corps body lotion so I decided to spring for a bottle as well as their Soy Milk and Honey Crème de Corps Whipped Body Butter  (it just sounds SO luxurious doesn't it?). The lotion is exactly what I was looking for: heavier than my summer lotion but not so much that it makes you feel greasy. The whipped body butter smells DIVINE and is very rich so I usually use it on my legs and super dry spots.

Sonia Kashuk, that fabulous makeup brand you can find at Target, recently launched a bath and body care line that I just had to try. I picked up an exfoliating scrub, body wash, body butter and a hand crème in each of the various scents they offer (variety IS the spice of life, no?). I was really impressed with the scents and performance of the products and have incorporated them into my body care routine when I feel the need for a spa night. Which is pretty much every night. And wine... spa and wine. I digress.

Considering its November, our summer tans have pretty much faded like our beloved daylight savings. Thankfully, there is an array of sunless tanners to choose from to bring back a touch of that summer glow. I use Jergens Natural Glow in Medium/Tan for my body and then Clarins Self-Tanning Milk for my face. While checking out Kiehl’s body care, I picked up their Sunless Tanner that I heard amazing things about and really love the color it gives me, so I have added that to my sunless tanning arsenal as well.

What products do you rely on when the temperature drops?
