Winetober Fest in Skippack, PA

I am just going to preface this post with a little known fact: my H and I are BIG into our wine. Some people are down with beer tastings, some like vodka, whiskey, or other more, illegal shall we say, substances (hey, I don’t judge). I remember back in college when my sorority sisters would shotgun beers in the bathroom and I could barely take a sip of one, yuck. Ok, it was “Natty” Natural Ice Light, which hardly qualifies as a beer, but I digress. When I finally hit the big 2-1, I graduated to Yuengling (a PA classic which I still enjoy from time to time), but I remember the day I ordered my first glass of wine and it was love at first sip. I remember thinking, “Yes, this is my beverage of choice.”

Over the years, I have honed my taste buds and started to try all different kinds of wine. It really is amazing how they are all aged differently, have different fruit and wood flavors and how they can taste vastly different depending on where the grapes were grown.

H and I decided that the time had come to go to our first wine festival. Winetober Fest in Skippack, PA did not disappoint! It rained a few days before so the grounds were a bit muddy but thankfully the sun came out for Winetober. Good thing too, because the event was completely outside and we would have been drenched had it rained!

There were at least 30 different wineries from all over PA, food vendors, crafters selling their wares and the local businesses set up and took part as well. And cheese, there was a TON of cheese. ‘Cause wine and cheese go together like sorority girls and Natty Light.

If you’re local, I would definitely recommend checking it out next year and exploring the local PA wineries. Many of them offer tastings that are a lot of fun as well (we’ve done Chadds Ford Winery and LOVE their wine).
